My support for Armed Forces Day

It is Armed Forces Day tomorrow (Saturday 30 June) and so I have recorded the following message in support of the service community to thank them for the outstanding contribution they make to our country.

 

 

Armed Forces Day is an important event which gives us all the chance to pay thanks to those who serve.  Armed Forces Day means a lot to me.  I have met families in York, who tragically, have lost young men who bravely served in Afghanistan. It is important to remember the fallen and show our respect for Forces’ families.

 

As a garrison town since Roman times, the Armed Forces have always played a big part in York’s history and it is important that we continue to support the Forces.

 

I hope that everyone will get involved to show their respects and celebrate achievements, as well as demonstrating united backing for our armed forces.
